I have been a Space: 1999 fan since I was 11 years old. I watched
it on WATE TV 6 in Knoxville
Tennessee. I can remember watching Space: 1999 while doing my
homework and wishing for a video tape recorder back then so I could
record every epsoide and watch it when ever
I wanted.. Which became available a few years later after the series
was no longer aired. So I did the next best thing, I just recorded
the audio of every episode. I did not see the show again until some
years later when the SCI-FI channel ran it and I tape every episode
not knowing if I would ever see the shows again. As soon as the DVD's
became available I got the entire set. Now I can watch when I
want.
Now on to why I built the site. As most of you know when
you search for Space: 1999 on a search engine Google
for example you get some results about the show or the same results
that you got before and you get a lot of links that have none thing
to do with the show. Also they are a lot of Space: 1999 web pages
that never show up in the results. No matter how creative you get on
your searches that was always the case. Then one day I was talking to
a friend of mine (Dave Weiblen) and he was
showing me his web site. His entire web site about Psoriasis.
As I was looking at it I saw the entire web site is pages and
page of links divided up into different categories. He also told me
about the web crawler he has created to go and find all of the sites
for him. Then all he has to do is review the results to make sure it
was what he was looking for and then he categorized it and posted it
to his web site. I told him about how I want to do a similar web site
about Space: 1999. So he said that he would modify his crawler to
look for Space: 1999 web sites. Then one day he gave me the modified
crawler and shows me how to use it. Now I have a web site and it is
growing every day. Now I just need more time to work on it.
That
was a short version on Space: 1999 and why I built this web site.
